“I give you an inch and you take a mile”. Sound familiar?
When you first hear this your instinct might be to think nothing you do is ever enough. In reality it might be that the FREQUENCY is not enough.
I like to compare this to dieting. Have you ever tried to give up sweets only to splurge on them the minute that first cookie hits your mouth? As dietitian Rebeca Scritchfield explains, when you finally give yourself permission to eat foods that taste good your brain has learned that it won’t last long so you tend to go overboard.
The same thing happens in relationships! When your spouse finally gets the attention/help/[insert need here] that he or she has been vying for, she won’t want it to end!
Instead of starving your spouse, try making daily efforts to meet each other’s needs. When there’s consistency & security in the relationship the demand won’t be as high.
